The Night Has A Thousand Eye's

FEELING GOOD
To say that legendary jazz drummer, Alvin Queen, has vast experience as a musician would be an understatement! With a professional career that spans over 60 years, he has performed, toured and recorded with many of the giants of jazz, including Kenny Barron, Grant Green, Horace Silver, George Benson, Dexter Gordon, Kenny Drew, Oscar Peterson, NHØP, Nina Simone, Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Jackson – just to name a few! Alvin Queen's approach to jazz drumming continues to evolve and now finds himself in the same distinguished stratosphere as "Philly Joe" Jones, Max Roach and Art Blakey. A technically skilled, nuanced and swing-driven drummer, it's no secret that Alvin can create the perfect moments that allow deep, expressive and improvisational contributions from his band members. Hot on the heels of her 2021 success NIGHT TRAIN TO COPENHAGEN (which took third place on JazzWeek's annual Top 100 Jazz Chart, 2022 in the US), Queen introduces FEELING GOOD, offering the listener a "jazz journey" consisting mainly of standards that have stood the test of time trials, but also two tracks by pianist Cedar Walton - a total of 13 tracks (9 on the LP, which will be released later) spanning 59 years of music history. And for redemption, Alvin has invited pianist Carlton Holmes, who has performed and recorded with everyone from Lionel Hampton to Freddie Hubbard, Max Roach and Stevie Wonder, as well as bassist Danton Boller, whose credentials are equally impressive; none mentioned none forgotten. When you go through Alvin Queen's work, you will, among other things, discover two brilliant examples of the piano trio format: the Kenny Drew Trio with bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and the Oscar Peterson Trio (also with NHØP). And now here is a new one of its kind ready to take the stage. And it has been worth the wait! With the content of a carefully selected program and the attention paid to the approach to the music by Messrs. Alvin Queen, Carlton Holmes and Danton Boller, this trio has created a beautiful and durable project that will be easy to enjoy for many years to come.
